What to Expect

First, you will have a brief, no cost meeting with a Certified Financial Planner in our Westchester, NY office. The purpose of the initial meeting is for us to get a feel for your needs and goals and for you to “kick our tires” and see if our style suits you and if our core values agree with yours. You will get straight answers to any and all questions you might have about our services.

Each of our advisors is a fee only, certified financial planner (i.e. we do not sell investments), so you will get no sales pressure from us. We are only interested in a long term relationship, not a one time sale. If there is a good fit and we decide to work together, we will meet again to discuss investment risk and learn about your investment personality.

Most importantly, you can expect us to be straight with you. We will not recommend an investment plan unless we honestly believe it is appropriate for your goals.

The typical practice for a financial planner is to have the client complete a questionnaire to determine his or her ability to accept market risk. Then they design a plan “suitable” for that level of risk tolerance. We believe that this “suitability standard” does not go far enough. So we operate under the fiduciary standard.

Of course, we want you to be comfortable with your level of risk but we also want you to reach your goals. So we start with financial planning – which means first identifying your goals. If we believe your goals are not reasonable, we will tell you and work with you to modify them. If we believe your risk level is too aggressive or too conservative, we will work with you on that as well. Whatever our suggestions might be, you can trust that they will be in your best interest.

Working together with you as your financial planner, we establish guidelines for how your portfolio will be managed. We then design and implement your investment plan and we review it on a regular basis. We don’t just put you into investments and leave you there. We monitor the results and make adjustments as the market conditions change.

The key to our service is trust and transparency. It’s your money and your plan and we are here to serve you.

We use Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services as the custodian of your account. In addition to monthly statements sent by Fidelity, you will be able to view your accounts any time through on line access.

We meet with you regularly to review your portfolio’s performance and discuss if there are any reasons that changes should be made to your plan. We are always available to answer your questions and address any concerns that arise.
